Sarah and Bazil at a table collecting signatures for the petition

The petition to improve Cavendish Square is reaching its goal of 700 signatures. Councillor Bazil Solomon and I spent an afternoon in Cavendish Square chatting to shoppers and residents about what they want to see in the Square and their experiences of the poor quality surfacing, lack of lighting and the rotten fencing.

We heard that the woman who was hit by a car that drove through the fencing has serious injuries. This is the cost of failing to maintain the Square properly.

The campaign has been organised by the Parks and East Walcot Community Forum and their blog and link to the petition are here: https://cavisquarecampaign.org/2019-petition/
